Windows XP Workstation Configuration

Configuring the TCP/IP Network Protocol

DHCP is the recommended setting for your Igaware Server Appliance. You can select it by accessing the Igaware Administration Interface, Administration/Servers/DHCP. Ensure DHCP is enabled.

  1. Open the Windows XP Networking control panel by clicking the Start button and selecting Control Panel. If you see Switch to Classic View under the Control Panel heading on the left, click that text to switch to Classic View. Select Network Connections. Double-click the Local Area Connection icon in the resulting Network Connections window.

  2. Click on the Properties button.

  3. Select the Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) component.

  4. Click on the Properties button.

  5. Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) Properties If you are using DHCP select the button beside Obtain an IP address automatically.

    If not Select the button beside Use the following IP address:.

  • Type in your IP address.
    If you do not have one, contact the system administrator.
  • Type in the subnet mask.
    Usually this is 255.255.255.0 but if you are unsure, contact the system administrator.
  • Type in your Default Gateway.
    If you do not know your gateway address, contact the system administrator.
    1. If you are using DHCP select the button beside Obtain DNS server address automatically.

      If not select the button beside Use the following DNS server addresses and enter the IP address of the Igaware Server Appliance.

    1. Click the OK button again to return to the Local Area Connection properties.
