Windows XP Workstation Configuration
Introduction
Installation of networking software is a prerequisite
to accessing the web and email, as well as sharing printers and files
with other users. Use these instructions to install the correct network
components on a Windows XP workstation, connected directly to your computer
network. Before you begin ensure that you have:
- An Ethernet card
installed in your computer.
- A Patch Lead connecting your Ethernet adapter
to the Ethernet port in your office.
- An IP address, gateway
address and subnet mask provided by the system administrator
- Internet software
such as Microsoft Internet Explorer for web browsing and Outlook for
email.
