Windows XP Workstation Configuration

Configuring Client for Microsoft Networks

This document assumes Client for Microsoft Networks is installed.

  1. Open the Windows XP Networking control panel by clicking the Start button and selecting Control Panel. If you see Switch to Classic View under the Control Panel heading on the left, click that text to switch to Classic View. Select Network Connections. Double-click the Local Area Connection icon in the resulting Network Connections window.

  2. Click on the Properties button.

  3. Select the Client for Microsoft Networks component.

  4. Click on the Properties button.

  5. Client for Microsoft Networks Properties Click on the down arrow in the Name Service Provider box and select the Windows Locator option if it is not already selected.

  6. Click the OK button to return to the Local Area Connection properties.
