DHCP is the recommended setting for your Igaware Server Appliance. You can select it by accessing the Igaware Administration Interface
and selecting, Administration/Servers/DHCP. Ensure DHCP is
enabled.
- Open the Windows 98 Network control panel by clicking the
button. Select settings, then select
control panel. Double-click the
icon in the resulting Control Panel
window.
- Select the
tab.
- Select the
component.
- Click on the
button.
- Select the
tab.
- Select Obtain an IP address automatically if DHCP is
being used. If not then select 'specify an IP address'
and enter the IP address of your computer and the subnet mask.
Usually this is 255.255.255.0 but if you are unsure, contact the
system administrator.
- Select the
tab.
- If you are using DHCP there should be no gateway installed.
Any installed gateways that are not specific to your configuration
should be removed.
If you are not using DHCP, add your gateway by typing it into
the "New Gateway" box and clicking on the
button. If you do not know your gateway address,
contact the system administrator.
- Select the
tab.
- If you are using DHCP this should be set to 'Disable DNS'. Go
to 13.
If you are not using DHCP enable the DNS functionality by selecting
the
radio button.
- Fill in the "Host" with your computer's name, and the "Domain"
with your domain. If you do not have one, contact the system administrator.
- Type in the IP Address of the Igaware Server Appliance (if you do not have
this, contact the system administrator) where it says 'DNS Server
Search Order' and click on the
button.

Click on the
tab.
If you are using DHCP this should be set to 'Use DHCP for WINS
Resolution''.
If you are not using DHCP 'Ebable WINS Resolution' and enter
the IP address of your Igaware Server Appliance (if you do not have this,
contact the system administrator) .

Click the
button again to return to the Local Area Connection properties.
