  3. An IP address, gateway address, subnet mask, workgroup name and domain name provided by the system administrator

  4. Internet software such as Microsoft Internet Explorer for web browsing and Outlook for email.

Control Panel

  1. Configuration

Select the Configuration tab to get the window below.
    Network Control Panel Window.

      Installing the network components
    • If the Client for Microsoft Networks is not listed, then install it.
    • If the adapter card icon for your Network Adapter Card is not listed, then install the adapter for your computer.
    • If the TCP/IP protocol is not listed, then install it.
    • If the File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks is not listed, then install it.

      Configuring the installed components
    • Select the Client for Microsoft Networks component and click on the Properties button.
    • Select the adapter card component and click on the Properties button.
    • Select the TCP/IP protocol component and click on the Properties button.
    • Select the File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks component and click on the Properties button.

Select "Client for Microsoft Networks" as the "Primary Network Logon".

Click on the File and Print Sharing... button to enable/disable the sharing of your files and printers with others.

  2. Identification

Select the Identification tab to get the window below.

    Network Control Panel/Identification Window.

    • Select a name for your computer. This is the name that will be used on the network to identify your computer.
    • Select a workgroup for your computer. This name identifies the "Network Neighborhood" that your computer will be associated with. This is merely a convenience. By using the same workgroup name within your office, it will be slightly easier to find coworkers computers and printers.
    • Select a comment for your computer. This name shows up along side of your "Computer name" when others see your computer on the network.

  3. Access Control

Select the Access Control tab to get the window below.
    Network Control Panel/Identification Window.

This is really personal preference. By choosing "Share level access control", your computer will behave like a Windows for Workgroups 3.11 computer and you will not have to set up "accounts" on your computer to allow others to use it.

Click on the OK button. The following dialog box will be displayed:

You must restart your computer befor the new
settings to take effect. Do you wish to restart your computer now?

Click the Yes button and your computer will restart. Installation of the networking software is now complete.

Note: You will have to talk to the administrator of the Igaware Server Appliance to add the new computer onto the system in order to access the Internet and the File Server.
