Windows 2000 Workstation Configuration

Configuring the TCP/IP Network Protocol

This document assumes the the TCP/IP protocol is installed.

Note: If you are using your Igaware Server Appliance as a DHCP server click here.

Only complete the following if you choose are not to using the Igaware Server Appliance as a DHCP server!

  1. Open the Windows 2000 Networking control panel by clicking the Start button. Select Settings, then select Network and Dial-up Connections. Double-click the Local Area Connection icon in the resulting Network and Dial-up Connections window.

  2. Click on the Properties button.

  3. Select the Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) component.

  4. Click on the Properties button.

  5. Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) Properties Select the button beside Use the following IP address

  • Type in your IP address.
    If you do not have one, contact the system administrator.
  • Type in the subnet mask.
    Usually this is 255.255.255.0 but if you are unsure, contact the system administrator.
  • Type in your Default Gateway. (The IP Address of the Igaware Server Appliance)
    If you do not know your gateway address, contact the system administrator.
    1. Select the button beside Use the following DNS server addresses.

  • Type in the IP Address of the Igaware Server Appliance in the box labelled Preferred DNS server. (this will be the same as the default gateway address)
    1. Click on the Advanced button.

    2. Advanced TCP/IP Settings Click on the DNS tab.

    3. Click on the button.

    1. Enter the IP Address of the Igaware Server Appliance.

    2. Click the OK button again to return to the Local Area Connection properties.
